Would it damage it by charging it every day or so!

Reader_cheekycactus, May 7, 2012, 8:25 pm

I just charge mine when the battery is getting low.Not sure if it is better to do it every day or not.

Reader_nfh1, May 7, 2012, 8:30 pm

I do the same, and it takes a good couple of weeks to run down, even with my using it every day.

Reader_trader_spence, May 7, 2012, 8:46 pm

I charge mine when the battery is low, generally once a month or so.

Reader_league_fan, May 7, 2012, 9:14 pm

once a month or so.
I've always been told to only charge batteries when they are flat, otherwise it can reduce the amount of charge that the battery can hold.

Hmm. I know that certainly used to be true of older-type rechargeables. But, I think newer battery types no longer suffer from the severe memory effect that used to eat up the capacity of older batteries. Even so, I have to admit I do tend to allow the cahrge to get low on my Kindle. On the other hand, I stick my phone on its charger every night - and I've seen no sign of loss of capacity.

Mine (kindle) about once every three weeks. It used to be once every three MONTHS, but then I took it overseas. Apparently the airport xrays can trash your battery life. who knew! Also now it just goes from go to 'nah, you have no battery life with NO WARNING message. It used to give me the option to turn off wi-fi and so on to eke it out for a few hours. Now it just goes flat in the middle of me readinga sentence. It's traumatic.

Reader_sara71, May 7, 2012, 10:29 pm

wont harm it with charging each day.Dont let it go completely flat.Older batteries yes but these new ones will last much longer with topups rather than letting go flat.

Reader_gilco2, May 7, 2012, 10:45 pm

I never leave the WiFi on.

Reader_league_fan, May 7, 2012, 10:59 pm

I don't either, I just connect when I need it.

Reader_trader_spence, May 8, 2012, 7:48 am

My kindle lasts about 2 weeks on a charge but I do read a lot. I notice that it is recommended that you do not leave it on charging overnight and also recommends that you turn off wi-fi when not using same to save battery. As with many of us I cannot bear the thought of being without it so have the app on the tablet and on the computer so that I have an alternative if needed

I recharge mine after I have read 3 books = that works out to be close to my having a low battery. Twice I have been given a warning but the battery lasted until the end of the book that I was reading.

Reader_l-eagle, May 8, 2012, 3:59 pm

I recharge mine about every 3 weeks or so. I depends on how much time I have spent browsing Amazon. Some weeks I spend hours browsing and downloading samples, other weeks I dont turn the wifi on at all.
Adding many books at once will chew through thebattery life faster as every book gets indexed and thats a real drain on the battery.

Only thing with Kobo Vox the battery life is not as good as Kindle, SO when it gets low I recharge it (usually when i am asleep)

Reader_marlin9, May 8, 2012, 5:39 pm

I tend to charge it properley ( Kobo) once every couple of weeks, but it gets little charges when I plug it into the ;laptop to down load a converted book,

My sony ereader was sold as having a battery life of a month, which after returning one for being faulty, I found out meant 15 hours. It is similar with my niece's kindle.
I think the charge lasts longer after you have them a while in the new devices.
